A Wet Nature Walk Fieldtrip

September 22nd, 2010
Hannah's preschool class has field trips planned at least once a month (sometimes more). Miss Tiffany, Hannah's teacher, needs moms to help and to drive and lucky for us, younger siblings are welcome to come. So Bry and I signed up to help with Hannah's very first school field trip, a nature walk and picnic. The weather has been beautiful and the leaves are changing colors. It was going to be wonderful... notice the "going to be"... until it started to rain. We were up Payson Canyon and there were a few drops on the way up. The kids got out and the rains really started to come.

All Miss Tiffany had was this little blanket. All 13 kids were huddled up (criss cross apple sauce) as tight as they could. We moved over under the trees to shield from the rain as much as possible.
Miss Tiffany had a couple books to read (We're Going on a Bear Hunt and a book about fall)... but before long her books were getting soaks too. And then it started to pour! And we rain to the cars. So much for a nature walk. (The next school day the kids had a "nature garage walk" where Miss Tiffany put out pine cones and leaves.) We all headed back to Miss Tiffany's where the kids had their picnic in her back yard under her covered porch. What an adventure!
