My Town

I really like our little city. Going to high school merely 20 minutes away, I always thought of this place as a "hick town"(and well in our first neighborhood, there were plenty of cowboys), but its really not... especially up on this side of town. And I've really enjoyed to love the smaller feel, the not so busy roads, the rodeos, and county fair, the farmer's market, and we even tried to make it to the demolition derby (maybe next year). Another thing I love are the events. Fiesta Days (around July 24th), the Kite Festival (which they didn't do this year... bumper), and Harvest Moon Hurrah (in the fall), for example. I love this town.

Just recently there was a grand opening of a new park, North Park. The city put a lot of money into it and there was some controversy over tearing the old one down. The city was making room for some commercial businesses to come in... but at the same time, made an awesome park with a splash pad, fun playground, and an indoor pavilion. The grand opening was a big deal. And I love that. It should be!

Besides the regular new attractions, there was a carousel, ponies to ride, a firetruck and military truck to climb into, prizes, food, a cake walk, and more. It was crowded, of course. But what a fun, free, family outing! We had a blast. (And we loved running into friends and cousins, too. Bonus!)

North Park: August 28th, 2010
Carousel:
I wasn't right next to Hannah. We had to run to find her a black horse and even though I couldn't be by her, she was so excited to have it. Love the hat hanging down into her eyes.
On the firetruck:Splash Pad:
Notice Bry right in the middle of all the big kids. This one LOVES water.
Harvest Moon Hurrah: September 18th, 2010
We recently went to the Harvest Moon Hurrrah, a fun event held at the library park. There were tables set up with free little crafts for the kids to do, like making glasses out of paper leaves and straws, making a painting using a sunflower as the stamp, and making a fall pipe cleaner bracelet. We also got to listen to a story teller and go on a little hayride accompanied by some girls who played their guitars.
We bought some dinner from a vendor and sat to watch some performances by Irish dancers, Cherie Call, and a really fun a capella group - Eclipse. Again what a fun, free, family day! I love this town!PS. What I love the very most about this town is my fabulous friends, neighbors, and ward!
