(don't worry the surgery was scheduled and just minor)
To sum up the week in words... and this in the abridged version!

I am exhausted. Bryson has been waking up two times at night lately. I told Nic I was ready to be done! Bryson is 6 months old and needs to be sleeping through the night. I told NIc I hadn't slept through the night in nearly a year! So Nic was going to get up with Bry at night, because I wasn't going to feed him... Bryson must have know he wasn't going to be fed because he slept all night--13 hours! From 7 pm until 8 am.
Sunday
Bryson wasn't himself. He's usually such a happy little guy. We went about our regular activities, but he was extra ornery.
I went to bed at 8 pm with a migraine. Bryson woke up at midnight. After getting him back to sleep, I couldn't get back to sleep. I stayed in bed until 5 am, then (finally) got up and wrote Lisa and read part of my mission journal.
Monday
Not himself still.Bry slept til midnight and was obviously not feeling well and wouldn't go back down. He ended up staying with us in our bed throughout the night, which meant none of us slept well. Guess we'll postpone that sleep training until after he's feeling well and after his surgery.
Tuesday
I decided to take Bryson to the doctor. I thought he was either teething or had an ear infection, but since he had surgery scheduled for Thursday I wanted to make sure he was okay.
Saw the different doctor than our normal pediatrician. He said Bryson had a sore throat from a virus as well as an ear infection. He prescribed amoxicillin. I gave Bry a little before his afternoon nap, then Nic him some about 7:30 before bed.
Wednesday
Bryson woke up with a bad rash all over his trunk: face, head, back, chest and belly. I called the doctor and got an appointment for 12:10... Of course it was nearly 17 hours after Bryson had been given the medicine and the rash wasn't as bad. We saw the same dr. He wasn't worried. Said it was probably from the virus that was causing his sore throat. I said, "So you don't think its from the amoxicillin?" Doc said, "No... but if it is, its probably just because he’s never had antibiotics before and this is the way his body is reacting to them." He told me to continue giving the medicine. Gave more before Bry's afternoon nap. When he woke up the rash was really bad again.
That night my dad and father-in-law came over to help Nic give Bryson a blessing for his surgery the next day. My father-in-law is a pharmacist and recommended not giving Bry the med any more but asking up at Primary Children's tomorrow, since we would be there.
Thursday
Bry woke up around midnight--fed him. He had to stop eating by 3:30 am in preparation for surgery. I woke up at 2:30 am anticipating my alarm clock set for 3. 3:00 am fed Bryson. He needed a diaper change... he was now wide awake. Then he got hiccups. Finally got him to sleep in his car seat just before 4 am. My alarm clock was going to go off at 4:15 anyway... so I just stayed up, made muffins, got ready, etc. We all headed out about 5 am. Hannah was now wide awake too. We dropped her off at my sister Ashley's.
Got to Primary Children's, registered, etc. The nurse practitioner than checked Bryson out thought his rash looked awful. She said if it were her child she wouldn't give him the amox. However, at this age you don't want to say he has a penicillin allergy.
We talked to the anesthesiologist and the surgeon then had to pass Bry off. That was hard. I started to cry as we walked away. They said it would take 30-45 min. An hour later we got a phone call. The nurse said they weren't done... I was worried. But to my relief they just had a quick question and would be finishing up soon.
Once the surgery was complete, one parent could go back. I went back and Bryson was just waking up. He started going crazy, crying and screaming, tossing and kicking. The nurse said I could pick him up, but that didn't help at all. I asked if he was in pain?! The nurse said no, he is just waking up and probably just feels really weird from the anesthesia and doesn't know what's going on. After wrapping him in a warm blanket and stroking his head, Bryson feel right back asleep. We were moved to a recovery room (well, if you can call it that... a corner with a curtain) and then Nic was able to join us.
His little body was reacting to some of the med and his cheeks got bright red and his face and arms seemed very swollen, plus he still had his rash. Poor little guy. He was out of it for pretty much the rest of the day. I was able to get him to eat a little bit and he kept it down. So although he was still very sleepy, they let us go at about 1pm.
We picked up some lunch. The people there must have thought I was on something. I was so, so tired and couldn't hardly talk to make much sense to order. We also picked up Hannah and headed home. We all crashed! I was able to take a much needed 3 hours nap! Nic and Hannah napped for about an hour and a half. My wonderful neighbor brought us dinner. Then Nic and Hannah went over to his parent to have some pie for Marj's birthday. Around 8 pm, Bryson started throwing up and throwing up and throwing up! I was worried a bit. They had said it was normal to throw up a little. But then, Bry started talking, cooing and growling! He was happy! I was so excited! "Your back! I've been missing you!" I was so happy and had to call Nic right away.
Friday-Monday
He continues to get better. He's still on loratab and some ibuprofen. And still waking up at night. But over all has done amazingly well and still is a pretty happy little guy!
Tuesday, June 2
He has a rash again! Only this time its on his arms and legs too. Maybe it’s viral after all... or both, because I know it got worse after the amox.

OH man Nat. Can I take Hannah again or bring you a meal or come over and let you nap? Let me help. Sounds crazy. I hope you all are well! Love you!
Man, I am exhausted just reading that! I hope Bryson gets all better soon and that you all catch up on some much needed sleep!
I am so glad that he is improving. I loved being able to bring dinner to you and show my family what service is all about. Thanks for the opportunity. PLEASE, PLEASE call if you need anything. Stefani and Staci would love to play with Hannah if you need another nap.
Makes you appreciate when everything is good doesn't it?
Oh, what a week!! It is the worst when your kids are sick, and poor Bryson has certainly gone through the ringer. Though I'm so glad the surgery went well as this must have been so nerve racking for you! Let me know if you need me to watch Hannah or anything so you can get some SLEEP!!!
Oh Nat, that is a bad week. I am sorry. I think only a mom can come close to understanding all of your emotions. I hope all is well. By the way, what did he have surgery for?
