Planting!

I am so excited to report that I now officially have a vegetable garden... or maybe I can't say that until I actually get a vegetable out of it! Well, I've officially planted a vegetable garden! I've been begging for several years now. With a landscaper as a husband its not as easy as picking a spot out back and going at it. No. No. No! Everything has to look "aesthetically pleasing." Then we come to this time of year when Nic is super busy... and its really hard to get it done.
We now have 1- 8x4 box and 2- 4x4 boxes... and I'm already wishing I had double that amount. Nic worked really hard... and all for me! Thanks! They look awesome and should be very durable. Nic finished the boxes on Saturday. Hannah was very excited to help. (In fact we are still wanting to make a 2x2 box just for Hannah. So she can plant and dig in hers while I'm working in the others.) While Hannah and Nic were finishing the garden boxes, I was planting our window baskets. Then that evening as it began to sprinkle I planted the garden! I planted some regular tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, and a yellow pear tomato, a bell pepper, and zucchini, all by plants (bought from a nursery). I also planted by seed: potatoes, corn, cucumbers, bush beans, carrots, yellow squash, and a pumpkin. It's all an experiment this year... so well see what works and what doesn't, if I planted too close or too many... and if I get any vegetables! I've been asking my mom and two friends, Andrea and Jennifer, for all their expertise! (So thanks guys! And a big thanks to Andrea for sharing seeds!) I keep looking out the window at my garden. I'm so excited. It makes me smile! For those of you wondering, we are still working on the "aesthetics" of the garden. Where you see dirt around the boxes, we will put down weed barrier and then rocks. I love how I'll be able to walk around the boxes. Nic also wants to stain the boxes. And water is still a necessity!

They look so great. I want some too! I have only planted two patio containers so far with some tomatoes herbs and peppers, but I do the same... looking out the window and getting excited. Way to go!

Okay, they look amazing. Wouldn't Mark kill me if I told him I wanted to go higher! Hee hee hee!!!
Good luck and you are welcome. I am not an expert and I am still learning as well!

I think that it is so sweet of Nic to build those for you! I knew you were a gardener...in a few years I am going to ask you to help me with RS again, so get ready!

Wow - I am impressed - I think you planted a TON - and will be interested to see if there is enough room for everything. Good Luck!

Looks fantastic! You'll have to share when all your veggies start growing!
