Details: Part 1, Bryson

A little while ago my friend posted a blog entitled, "What's really going on..." about the details of their life that get passed over in normal blog posts. I thought I needed to make a post (or posts) like that for selfish reasons. All these posts will be long and boring to most... but a great way to record some of the "details" of our daily life.

Bryson

  • He really doesn't like "tummy-time." (But what baby does?!) He has rolled over only twice, a fluke both times, I'm sure.
  • He is such a baby little guy. He is very smiley. I love hearing him laugh and watching him and Hannah interact. Hannah can really get him giggling. One day it was an "oink," another day it was saying something was "too hot"... and Bryson thought Hannah was so funny! Of course Hannah loved the reaction and proceeded to snort or express how hot her food was over and over... and over again, with laughs from Bryson each time.
  • He was doing so well with sleeping, but lately has been waking up a couple times a night. I've been trying to let me just cry it out or sooth him the first time he wakes up, without feeding him. But its hard when I'm worried about him waking up another child... and when I already know what the easiest and fastest thing to do is.
  • He has hypospadius, a condition where the foreskin hasn't formed or closed all the way. He will have surgery at Primary Children's Hospital in about a month. Its "just" a same day surgery. But I'm nervous for my little guy.
  • Bryson looks so much different to me than Hannah. He has bright blue eyes. I love his eyes! He has blond little fuzz on his hair, as opposed to Hannah's dark hair. Hannah is also quiet olive skinned. She tans so easily. Bryson is much more fair.
  • He used to (and sometimes still does) get really scared at loud noised like the blender, a chair screeching across the floor, and Hannah growling. He's now started to pick up on that growling himself.
  • He does such funny things with his tongue! For awhile there it was constantly sticking out and it would be so pointed! Now he's always twisting it, turning it, folding it, or chewing on it!
  • I finally got rid of his cradle cap. Boy I hate that stuff! Hannah had it too, but I got rid of it much easier. Baby oil and scrubbing is the key... I bought some baby oil gel, this time... not a good idea, it didn't work. I finally found the stuff I used with Hannah and after some good rubbing and combing, its finally gone!
  • Boy does this kid love the tub! I put him in the big bathtub with Hannah and he splashes like crazy! Hannah and I are both soaking wet from all his kicking and arm waving! He gets himself really good too and does seem to mind. About a month ago after giving Hannah a good splash, she splashed him right back... right in the face! But he didn't mind at all!
  • I started rice cereal this week. He's now had it 3 times. He's doing better each time. Hannah was more excited than any of us! She loves to be right in there to help.
  • He's developed a lot over the past month. He's getting closer to sitting up. Building those core muscles! And he is grasping toys really well. He reaches for things and seems very aware of his surroundings. What a little cutie-head!

I probably wouldn't read somebody's entire blog like this, but I read your every word. Hey I need to know about my one and only nephew and super sweetie niece. You also organized it well. Bryson is getting older! In that picture of him sitting in the highchair next to Hannah he looks like an Allen. It makes me think of pictures of Grandpa Allen. :)

He is getting so big!

I know exactly what you mean with the crying. We get our girls up a lot more frequently then if we just had one. Go with your gut, besides, he may be having a growth spurt and needs the extra food. What a sweetheart!

I agree with you: We need these types of posts. I kept a pretty good record of Nathan's babyhood full of random details like this. Totally boring to anyone else, but such a treasure now!

And I love the pics of Bryson. I can't believe how big he is getting!!!
