Work it girl!

This is one of those post that I'm begging for input! So... New Years resolution time... and of course, exercise has to be on the list! I'm wondering what works best for you. I've been working out to one of those boring video for now and can't devote (or am not willing to devote) too much time each morning. I try to have Hannah do it with me (it can be pretty entertaining, but doesn't last long) and I'm often doing stretches or kicks while holding Bryson! So here's the questions:

1. What do you do?
2. If you only had 20 minutes in the morning, what would you do?
3. Do you have a favorite workout DVD?
4. I got an iPod for Christmas and need a workout playlist! What are your favorite songs to exercise to?!
5. Ummm... any other advise on how to exercise with two kids? (I'm not waking up at 5 am!)

I just got an exercise DVD at Costco. I've only done it once, but it was good. It has 5 12 minute miles and it's just variations of walking, so nothing too hard. I was tired after one mile, though, so I knew it was working!

As far as music goes, I like exercising to Dixie Chicks, Butterfly Boucher, and Jem. I have all of these if you need some!

Good luck with it. I have a hard time exercising with just one kid--if you can fit it in with two without getting up at 5 a.m., I'll be impressed!

As soon as I can get some sleep, I'm going to start waking up at 5:30. I haven't had to do it until now, but it seems like the only way! Good luck. I hope you find something that works for you!

Okay, I love the 5 am comment. You are more than welcome to join us. (I haven't gone for 4 weeks but I plan to.) I did enjoy THE FIRM DVD but like you got bored. I just hate to exercise. I suggest any 80's music. It is upbeat and makes me want to dance with it. I wish I had more advice. That is why I have taken to going to the gym. It wasn't happening at home!

I am with Rachael, I start my workout at 5:30AM. It really is the only way for me. BUT if I were you I would just take a walk with the kids...you are skinny so why work too hard, just keep a healthy heart!

I am terrible at exercising so I love all the comments here. Chasing after two kids is a pretty good workout in itself, but a few things have worked for me:
1. Join a team. I joined that soccer team I was telling you about, and I got in the best shape I've been in since I got married!
2. Exercise after the kids are asleep. Though by this point, I'm usually so tired that it doesn't always happen, but this is the time of day that I'm most likely to exercise.

Good luck! It is so hard to get anything done when you have rugrats running around, huh?!?

I'm totally like you! I don't have much time and being as I'm still getting up at night I like to sleep as late as I can! I do the same thing! Molly will work out with me and it is incredibly entertaining! One thing that I have found that I really like is 1- The Jillian Michael's 30 day shed! Totally hard 25 min and no coordination necessary! 2-this is a sight that you can down load this work out on to your ipod! check it out! http://studio5.ksl.com/?sid=5060050&nid=56

I would NOT wake up early to exercise. ICK! If I were you I would do it in the evenings after the kids go to bed... that's what I plan on when I heal up a little more. Really, there is no other time in the day! Good luck... and lucky for you you don't have to lose any weight, so you could really do ANY work out you wanted! You could just do weights if you wanted..As for music, I really don't know, Brett downloads tons of music and I just choose from his lists. I like the dance stuff that is very up beat. It really does help!

I agree to working out in the evening. After Micah was born it was hard to have any energy during the day between playing with Livvy, nursing Micah, changing diapers, ugh! I would just have to wait until Kenny got home and head outside or to the gym. I also like the idea of joining a team, I played on a soccer and volleyball team and it was great fun. Music is hard, I like 80's music and anything to dance to.

See if someone in your ward wants to start a workout group. A friend in my ward does a class twice a week in the church gym. We let the kids play with nursery toys in one half and we do about 45 min of aerobic and then 30 min of lower or upper body toning with hand weights and such. It is soo much easier having friends with young kids to do it with.

I also love the Wii fit. So cool!

Chad helped me find a spot on itunes where you can get work out music. When your in itunes go to the itunes store homepage and then in the second sidebar on the right you'll see a link that says "itunes essentials" click that and then look in the lower let sidebars for workout music.

It is hard to find time. Shawn and I have made time and both do it together, because this semester his classes start later, but we will see how long we last. So far so good!

I figure cleaning, chasing kids, going on walks at the mall - it helps keep ya going!
