Big Bed!

I had to document Hannah's nursery before the room changed so here it is:

August 26th:
Hannah got her new big bed yesterday! She was so, so excited! In fact giddy! She couldn't wait to go to bed. When we were getting it all set up she kept wanting the light off and door closed and asked for her blanket... After scriptures and prayers, we brush her teeth but she ran straight to her room, wanting to get into bed! When she got in she had a little squeal with delight and a huge grin on her face! When I left the room she was quite and went to sleep. However at about 10:30 Nic and I had just gotten into bed and were watching the end of the news and we heard a clunk and then a cry! She had fallen out of bed! One side of her bed was right up against the wall... but I guess today we'll go get a railing for the other side! Nic went in and calmed her down. Then I went in and laid with her for a bit and put a couple pillows on that side of the bed. I was mostly worried that she would be afraid of her new bed and not want to sleep in it again. She woke up very happy... so hopefully that's a good sign for tonight!

September 8th (2 weeks later):
I got some pictures of Hannah sleeping in her bed the first night. She's all over the place... no wonder she fell out! We did go and get a railing for her the next morning before nap time. Don't worry she hasn't fallen out again! And then I also got some pictures of her the second morning (note the railing!) when she woke up. She's as happy as can be. Two weeks later, Hannah continues to LOVE her "big bed." I have never seen or heard of a little kid being so excited about being able to sleep in a big bed. She really is giddy about it! We talked about how she was going to get a big bed soon for months beforehand. I think that really helped... guess we didn't have to talk it up quite so much! Hannah went bed shopping with us, I talked about it as I made her quilt for her new big bed, she saw her cousins with big beds, etc. Now she loves sitting on her bed reading books and playing. She thinks its such fun place to be. She's always saying, "Come on, Mom. Play big bed!" as she takes my hand. One thing I'm enjoying (we'll see how long it lasts), is that she doesn't get out! She can! But in the mornings and after her naps, she'll stay in there singing and talking for quite awhile then she'll start calling for me, "Mommy, awake now!" I am so grateful the transition has not only gone well but has been a highlight in Hannah's life! Wahoo!

(I'll take some more pictures of the whole room after I've got it all put together. I'm still painting a bookshelf for the room.)

Natalie it looks great. I love the quilt you made for her new bed. Where did you end up finding her white bed frame? It all looks so great together, no wonder Hannah loves it. Sounds like talking about it for so long worked. How fun that she is so excited. You are such a cute mom and Hannah is so cute too.

I love her nursery that is so cute, was it hard to take down?? I agree with the above comment the quilt you made her is so cute and goes with the bed so well. I'm glad she likes it so much. When Porter moved to a big bed he loved it but soon realized that he could get out and do what he wanted. We had to threaten that he would go back in the crib and he didn't want that so he stayed in bed.

I love the mission story. That is so cool! Molly was the same way with her bed. She still loves it. Ya don't worry about the fall, Molly fell out and I had railings on both sides, she just went off the bottom, Nice! Such cute rooms. Love the nursery, but that bedding is so cute! Way to go!

That is so exciting. I am wanting to put Stefani in a big bed but I know she will get out. She already plays on there with Staci. You did a great job on the bedding. Don't worry about the fall. Jeremy fell off the top bunk and he is just fine. He even slept through it. We haven't ever had a railing. It is amazing how quick they learn not to fall off.

Hannah - you have such a cute bed!! I love it. I am so glad you love it too! Andie says hello! We miss you!

Also, have fun on your mission with Lisa!! You will help them get in the doors for sure!

I'm jealous. Jenna is afraid of her bed at night. She likes to play in it during the day, but when I put her down to go to sleep she says, "I want sleep crib." I'm still in a quandary as to what to do to get her in there.

When Ethan switched to a bed, he was so much all over the place that we didn't even give him a quilt or a pillow. One night he actually fell out of the 1 ft opening between the wall and the railing.

Hannah's bed is so cute! I'm glad she's so excited about it, that makes the transition nice and easy. I wish Daylen was always that excited about going to bed!

Wow, what great taste you have Natalie! I love it! I am really loving your blog, I am learning so much about you. We share a lot of similiarities. Maybe we're related?!?

That is great that she loves her bed!! I found that Xander slept a ton better once he was in a big bed of his own :) I just can't bring myself to get Mara a big bed yet, she is to hyper!
