I can't turn off my head!

Its almost 1am. I tried to sleep, but as is all too common with me, I couldn't turn off my head. Youth conference, youth conference, youth conference! We leave this coming Thursday and I was laying there thinking of my mile-long "to do" list. After about an hour I decided to get up and start doing some of those things on my list. Usually after getting up, I still can't turn my head off when I go back to bed. I haven't seemed to have found that switch yet. Could anyone tell me where it is?!

Hey guys! I like the new look. Nothing is more frustrating than not being able to sleep. There was a pretty good article in the reader's digest this month on sleeping. One thing they said was...

23. Spend 10 minutes journaling the day's events or feelings after tucking yourself into bed. This "data dump" will help turn off the repeating tape of our day that often plays in our minds, keeping us from falling asleep.

24. Keep a notepad at your bedside along with a gentle night-light and pen. Then, if you wake in the middle of the night and your mind starts going, you can quickly transfer the to-do list to the page, returning to sleep knowing you "caught" those thoughts.

Hope that helps, sorry for the long comment.

Sounds awful! I hate when I can't fall asleep, but it isn't often. I do like writing in a journal every night or talking to Chad for a while about what's on my mind or unwinding with a movie or TV show. Milk and cookies is always good too!

Good luck with youth conference and all you have going. I also want to hear about you St. George trip!

Yup- just WRITE IT DOWN! Then your mind knows it will be remembered and you can sleep! When I go on trips I have this same problem and I'm up for an hour just writing my 'list' of things to do. But it helps to write it so I know I won't forget it. Do you need any help with conference!? I am here and very willing... just call!! Love ya

I do write in my journal every night. But I should keep a little light and pad of paper by my bed to write down my list... then I wouldn't be worried about forgetting it!

And there's no way I could talk to Nic. He's asleep in like 5 seconds (LITERALLY!)... even though it was me wanting to go to bed!

Hi Natalie! Your blog is so cute and everything you post I have in common with...finishing the basement, the St. George trip, FHE nights, being a mom, having a husband who loves golf, Young Women's,and YES, I too can't sleep when things are on my mind. Which is way too often, and I'm gald that you got advice for it because I am going to use it. We should chat more! maybe, it would help with the insomnia! see you Sat.?
Love, Karen
