Family Home Evening

One of my New Year's resolutions this year is to have better Family Home Evenings. We always did something but it wasn't real official. We now always start with a song and a prayer, but I've been struggling with ideas for a 1 year old. Mostly what we've done is pull out some pictures from the Gospel Art Kit, talk about them, and sing some primary songs that apply. On Monday, I bought the Nursery manual, a subscription to the Friend, and a book called 52 Weeks of Family Night (its for young families). Obviously our family nights can't be long or complicated (after all we have a one year old!) On Monday, we made a book about Jesus, from March's Friend. I had the pictures and card stock precut. We glued the pictures of Jesus to card stock, punched holes, and tied the pages together with string to make a little book, and then read it. It worked out great!I'd love any ideas or things that have worked for you and your families!

We use that same book, and friend, and I was going to mention the sugar doodle link, but I saw you already know it. Looks like your set. Hannah looks like she's having fun.

Good job Nat! Looks fun. I've felt the same way about our family nights, between dinner and bed there isn't much time. I too got the gospel art kit and The Friend subscription; they are great! Looks like a great FHE! I guess I should get the 52 Weeks of Family Nights and the Nursery manual. Yes? What a good family!

Well, first I like the new blog look. Second, the first thing I noticed from your pictures was that we have the same table(probably from Grandma and Grandpa)! And Third, I love that idea of nursery manual, because we too have short family home evenings with two little boys who can't focus for very long. Looks like it worked great, so thanks!

You are so good. We didn't start having "official" FHE until the boys were about 3 and 2. Most of those first ones (and occasionally still), the whole lesson was role play how to be nice, how to be soft, how to share, etc. Very physical, hands on lessons. Our lesson is still only about 5 minutes, most of our time is singing songs and playing games.

You are so good! We need to start doing FHE with Daylen, we read scriptures and say prayers before bed, but haven't really done FHE for him. I guess it's never too early to start!
