Bry's Big Bed

Bryson is finally in a big bed! It has actually gone better than I anticipated. Previously when we'd talk about a "big bed" Bryson would say "No, big bed!" We also tried to have him sleep in a bed when we were in San Diego on vacation; he wanted nothing to do with it. However, we tried to talk it up for months and finally some excitement started to grow.

On May 9th, we put up the bunk bed and immediately started feeling overwhelmed by how small Bry's room is. There is no way the crib and bunkbed will both fit in there! (For another couple weeks, Bry did sleep in his crib, which was in front of his closet.) He also has a nice dresser, but it is a long, short dresser and also seemed way too big for the room once the bunkbed was in there.

Putting up the bunkbed. Bryson and Hannah were so excited.
Finally a few weeks later we got a mattress (just for the bottom bunk so far) and took the crib down at the same time. We did some rearranging a found a manageable set up, so we don't have to get rid of the dresser.

He's been sleeping pretty well in it. We put a child lock on the inside of his door, so if he gets out he knows he can't come out and play... we can hear him and tell him to get back in bed. The first night he got out twice, but quickly figured out he couldn't get out and play. Naps were more of a trick for a week or so, but its getting better. He's still waking up at night occasionally, but that has been happening the last few months. He is proud to show off his "big bed" to everyone who comes over.

Bry, we are proud of you and how BIG you are getting!

Very fun!! Way to go Bryson! I love the bedding and hit little sports pillows. Did you make the quilt?

Nope... gotta love Target! Thanks Mols

Glad he is excited. I have never used one of those net holders for the bed. That is funny that he knows that he can't play if the door is shut. Glad he is getting better and that you found a way for the dresser to stay and the bed.
