President Monson announced today that a new LDS temple will be built in Payson, Utah! Here's the link to more information: newsroom.lds.org
From what I understand this will be "our" temple, which means the temple that will serve the area that we live. I am more than thrilled to think of the opportunities this will present in the coming years as we are involved in the building process and then, of course, in attending there. This announcement nearly brought tears to my eyes as I thought of how blessed we are to have so many temples close by. I felt like this last year was a year of temples! We were able to attend the open houses of both the Draper and Oquirrh Mountain Temples. And yet the work continues... and now there is going to be a temple built in Payson.
I know the temple is a sacred place and truly the House of the Lord. It is a place where we learn more about our Heavenly Father and our Savior Jesus Christ, learn about the purpose of life and make covenants. One I am particularly grateful for is eternal marriage. The temple is a place I feel the Spirit each time I enter.
What an exciting announcement! We are sure excited to have a temple in Payson.

You are such a great example to me. I loved hearing your testimony on temples. Thanks for sharing the video too.
I didn't know. How great. I thought they usually announced these at conference. Wow.
WOW! I'm so excited! I just talked to my mother in law today about how we need to pray for a Payson temple and here it is. I can't believe it!!!! Thanks for passing on the news.
That is awesome! Mark texted me and told me. As I was reading your post I realized that Jeremy is now 8 and could go to the dedication if it broadcasted. I was thrilled!
I remember hearing once in seminary that here in Ut you would literally be able to see from one temple to the next. I can't believe it is actually happening. How wonderful and beautiful they are.
I was so excited when I heard! I used to have to drive 5 hours to attend the Temple while growing up. Now I'm surrounded by them! It's great!
