"Yes!" I responded... pause... thinking about how totally exhausted I was and how I still had a huge mess to clean up. "Well..."
Then Nic said, "You get satisfaction out of it?" Said more as a statement than a question.
Yes. Exactly. Satisfaction.
I have enjoyed canning this year. I've done it this year more than ever before and I am getting great satisfaction from my work. At the end of a long day I can look at my accomplishment and know it will benefit my family for a quite a while. I love that. (Also why I love crafting... something that lasts. So unlike cleaning the bathroom, doing dishes and washing laundry... its ready to do again the minute its "done.")
It also helps that I have a supportive husband that has been appreciative of all this canning... and helps clean up!
This past Saturday and Monday I canned salsa for the first time. It is a lot of work! But, yes, I'll do it again (but hopefully not for a while). I'm so excited to have homemade salsa now at just the opening of a bottle. I got my recipe here at Prepared NOT Scared. (I ended up 8X-ing the recipe over the 2 days. I halved the jalapenos.)
Hannah was a great help, chopping veggies and peeling tomato skin off!

I got a pizza sauce recipe from a friend (which I'm excited to used today) and bottled that. As well as some regular tomatoes.
Here's the round up:
Salsa
quarts: 8
pints: 27
Tomatoes
quart: 1
pint: 4
Pizza Sauce

half pint: 6

Wowie zowie! Way to go Nat! It sure is nice to do something that stays done longer then laundry. P.S. You are a pro laundry folder, way better then me! :)
That is satisfaction. Well put! I love Hannah's picture at the sink peeling a tomato. It is priceless. Glad that you are able to have so much stored. Way to go!
