A good week

Week of June 23rd, 2009
A Taste of Lisa's Mission and the Temple:
My sister Lisa is serving a mission in Vancouver Canada. Beny, a man from Switzerland lived in Lisa's mission for 5 months or so, where Lisa was able to teach him about the gospel. He is now headed home... via a 3 month road trip in the States. Part of that trip was here in Utah, where he wanted to learn more about the Church. My mom was excellent at taking him in. And on one particular day, my sister Ashley and I, along with our kids were able to go the the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house with Beny and my mom. What a wonderful experience!
I was worried that with 4 kids it wouldn't be a very 'spiritual' experience. But I think it was perfect. We talked a lot about how couples and families can be sealed together forever. He got to see the importance of family in action. We went during the day when it wasn't very busy. So were able to take our time, answer questions, and bear testimony. He was interested in what the church would be like in Switzerland. We told him it was the same, but he wasn't convinced. My kids and I headed home, but the rest of the crew then went up the Temple Square, where a sister missionary from... Switzerland! was able to give them a tour. What a little miracle!

I loved meeting Beny. I felt like we were able to see a glimpse of Lisa's mission and to be able to take part in it in a small way. I also loved taking my kids through. Nic and I had gone to the Draper Temple open house... which was our 'not so spiritual, spiritual experience!' Bryson screamed the entire time. Hannah and Bryson did great this time around.

Then next day, Tuesday, my mom watched the kids while I went to the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. What a great start to the week. I love the temple and know it is the House of the Lord. I also know families can be together forever.

Helping Mom:
Two days of the week, Tuesday after the temple and again on Friday, I was able to help my mom sand and paint some cabinets. She is refinishing 2 bathroom vanities and the cabinets in the kitchen--a HUGE project. It was fun to spend some extra time with her.
Rodeo Date:
We got a babysitter for Thursday night and Nic and I headed to the Lehi rodeo with some of my family. Yeehaw! We had a fun time relaxing a bit and being together. What a goof!

BBQ:
On Saturday we had a couple families over from the ward, the Lomenicks and Peerys, for a BBQ and to roast some marshmellows. What awesome people. We had a wonderful time.

So those were the highlights of a good week. I'm grateful for family and the great times we get to spend together, whether its edifying one another, working or playing!

You are so lucky to be able to take your kids through an open house. I think my kids would really love it. We take them to the temple when we do the trade off and we've taken them into the visitor's area. I wish I could show them more.
